As I get older, I find myself being more selective about who I spend time with, and less compelled to be everyone’s best friend. I am even ok with the knowledge that there are people who will not like me. And it’s not my fault -in fact, it has nothing to do with me, but everything to do with them. I saw this quote and loved it immediately…. Re the painting, it’s a watercolor I did on my flight back from the West Coast. I love painting on the plane as I forces me to focus on the few materials I have, watercolor crayon, paper and my brush. This is the first time I am using Arches Watercolor paper and I have to say, I LOVE IT!!!!! It was so fun playing with the watercolor, making it drip, the colors just seem to come alive on the paper! I truly believe that paper is the most important ingredient in a painting. Glad I tried it! Will be investing in those paper from now on… it is just more fun!

She is beautiful, I read your post I don’t know how old you are but I am 58 I started to notice when I was in my early 40’s that the older I got the less all that fussy stuff from the younger years just were not important any more. Its the best part of getting older so anyway your girl is awesome and I totally love her hair.

Hi Sue, thanks for your kind words and sharing your experience. I am 46 and I think I have really only begun to fully embrace this lovely part of growing old. I am loving it!

I agree with grammyof6! Also with the comment about your girl. Love the way you created her hair and the intensity of her eyes! I used to be a hairdresser and didn’t mind when people watched while I cut hair. But, with painting it is harder. I would like to paint while flying but not having much privacy might hinder my creativity. Not sure what the difference is! Arches is one of the best watercolor papers, I agree!

I hear you about painting in public. I feel the same way everywhere else except the plane. Guess I fly so much that I have to find a way to make time “fly”. And something about the quietness and the darkness on the plane gives me the sense of privacy… And for the most part people leave me alone. The flight attendants are usually the ones who will say something nice. The worst seat is near the bathroom bec that’s when people will look when they are waiting to go to the bathroom:) anyway, try it sometimes, u may surprise yourself:) thanks for leaving your feedback:) I love reading them!
