Yes, it is Sunday… time for another Downton Abbey!!! Someone suggested that I paint Mr Carson, the head butler in Downton Abbey and I thought, yikes, I am rubbish with painting men and I just don’t know if I can do him justice. But if I don’t try, I would never know… so I did. True enough, it was HARD!!! The first picture I painted did not look like him AT ALL! I was mad. It kept me up (I know, I can be obsessive like that). So I tried again. This was my second attempt and while I still don’t think it does him justice, it will have to do for now, I can’t do a third one… at least not yet…. One of my favorite moments of Mr Carson is when Mrs Patmore came to talk to him about the type of “marriage arrangement” he expects with Mrs Hughes and he told her “Tell her this Mrs Patmore, that, in my eyes, she is beautiful”. He said it with such a tender look (which is VERY RARE), it was so touching. I want to remember this.. and I am glad I took this challenge. Maybe I will come back and paint this again in a few months?
I think you did very good with him! in this painting
My husband always asks why I don’t draw men. I don’t know. I don’t think they are as easy or inspiring as ladies to paint….?
And I finished Season 1 of this show and am working through the others. That he said this is so sweet! Cant wait to get to that point. : )

Thanks Rose! I feel the same way about painting men. They are hard and not as inspiring as ladies. That said, after I took the Lifebook 2015 class where we had to paint a man, I actually liked the experience and painted a few eye candies:) I have to say, it was fun looking at eye candy while painting him! so, maybe you want to give it a try?:) Enjoy the rest of Downton Abbey, it is such a fabulous show! Can’t wait till you get to Season 6. Savor every moment:)
