Be Kind.

I love elephants. I love their loyalty, their bond, their love for each other. I cannot understand why anyone would want to hunt them or hurt them. As Dalai Lama says”our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can’t help them at least don’t hurt them”.

I love painting them too. Trying a looser watercolor style. Then i played with some special effects using PicsArt, pretty cool. Can’t decide which i prefer.

Wanderlust. I love this word. I love traveling. It is where I go to find my soul, to open my mind, to be surprised, to be inspired. But I love coming home too. It’s the balance between feeling rooted and grounded and feeling free and open.

Playing in my altered book tonight. I loved the image of this car on a catalogue. Decided to put it in my altered book. It called me tonight. I added the girl and the words to complete the page.

Here’s to going into the wild…

Hello gorgeous

Sometimes it amazes me how tough we can be. Life throws us curve balls but we get through it. I started this piece by playing with splotches of ink, not knowing where it would end up. Added some collage and the words “hello gorgeous”. Then some doodling. All the while thinking of my mother in law who is currently hospitalized far far away in Singapore. I am blessed to have one of the best mother in law anyone could ask for. She is strong, independent and always putting the welfare of her children first. It hurts to think of her suffering and wish we could see her more often. When it came time to finish this piece, I knew what I needed to write in the blank space..

Dedicated to my mother in law and putting this out to the universe… hello gorgeous. Life is tough, but so are you. Keep fighting. We will be home to see you soon…😘😘😘😘

Live, Laugh, Love

Sometimes we have to wait for the right inspiration to finish off a painting. Like tonight.

Decided to dig up some of my older unfinished pieces and came across this mixed media painting that i felt was missing something. A picture of a little girl with angel wings caught my eye and I knew it belonged there. And to finish it off, I included the quote on Live, Laugh, Love.

Viola, it’s finished. Some things can’t be rushed. When it’s time, you will know. And I know this piece is finished now. I think it applies to life too. Sometimes we just have to wait.

Sometimes there is no word…

Practice facial expression tonight. Saw this expression on Pinterest and it just make me laugh. Sometimes that is how I feel. While I may not feel this way tonight, I wanted to see if I could paint this expression. I like it. It makes me chuckle. But for the life of me, I could not find any words to go with it… can you think of any?

I still believe

A sketch done on the eve of my birthday. It is also the eve of the one year anniversary of when the unthinkable happened. The election results of 2016. Unfortunately my birthday will always remind me of that dark day. But I still remain hopeful. I still believe in the good of people. In the strength of love, the power of hope. #istillbelieve
